Austrian cultural season in Belarus Republic 2016/2017

The idea to organize an Austrian season of culture in Belarus resulted from efforts to showcase an extensive cross-section of Austria’s cultural activities with high-standard events over the course of a year, rather than condensed into a festival of one or more weeks. Austria is seen as a country of culture, particularly in Belarus, where traditional and, increasingly, contemporary artistic output has had a specific and unmistakable character.

We do not yet know enough about each other’s country, its cultural life and background. Therefore it is high time that a major festival showcasing Austrian artistic output be organized in Belarus. The project was co-organized by the Austrian Cultural Forum, with the companies Priorbank and Kronospan contributing as general sponsors. The Austrian Cultural Forum has been responsible for developing the program, raising the funds and implementing the project.
